Overview

Our Legacy Hair Salon & Barbershop needed a clearer system for managing local search visibility and understanding how customers discovered the business through Google.

I organized the work around Google Business Profile optimization, content activity, review signals, and performance reporting. The resulting system made local marketing activity easier to manage, evaluate, and improve over time.

Problem / Opportunity

Local search performance can be difficult to manage when profile updates, content, reviews, and reporting are treated as separate activities.

The business had an opportunity to create a more consistent local visibility system that connected ongoing profile activity with measurable search behavior. The goal was not simply to generate more activity, but to understand what customers were searching for, how often the business appeared, and where future improvements should be focused.

Strategy

The strategy focused on four priorities:

  1. Improve the completeness and relevance of the Google Business Profile.
  2. Maintain consistent content and profile activity.
  3. Support stronger trust signals through review awareness and ongoing business information updates.
  4. Create a repeatable reporting process for reviewing visibility and customer discovery data.

This approach connected day-to-day local marketing activity with the performance information needed to guide future decisions.

Execution

I organized and supported a local search workflow that brought profile management, content activity, review monitoring, and performance analysis into one system.

The execution included:

  • Reviewing Google Business Profile information and presentation
  • Updating business details and relevant profile content
  • Supporting Google Business Profile activity
  • Reviewing customer search behavior and discovery terms
  • Monitoring profile views and search visibility
  • Evaluating platform and device performance
  • Organizing performance screenshots and reporting
  • Identifying opportunities for future profile and content improvements

The system created a clearer process for moving from local marketing activity to measurement and then into the next round of optimization.

Results / Evidence

From February through July 2026, the Google Business Profile generated measurable visibility and customer activity across Google Search and Maps.

The Business Profile appeared in 2,678 searches and was viewed by 11,575 people during the reporting period. The search term “hair salons near me” accounted for 1,066 appearances, demonstrating visibility for a high-intent, non-branded local search.

The profile also generated 1,826 customer interactions:

  • 365 calls
  • 473 direction requests
  • 988 website clicks

At the time of reporting, the business maintained a 5-star Google rating across 237 reviews. Together, these results show that the profile supported both local discovery and meaningful customer actions.

These figures reflect combined business activity, customer demand, reputation, profile management, and broader marketing efforts. They should not be attributed solely to one individual optimization.

Reflection / Learning

This project reinforced that local search visibility depends on consistent management rather than a single profile update.

Google Business Profile content, business information, customer reviews, search behavior, and performance reporting all contribute to the larger system. Reviewing these areas together made it easier to identify what was working and where additional attention was needed.

The project also demonstrated the value of translating platform data into a simple reporting process that can guide practical marketing decisions instead of collecting metrics without a clear next step.

Google Business Profile performance data reflects activity from February through July 2026. The 5-star rating and 237-review count reflect the profile status when reviewed in July 2026. Results represent combined business activity, customer demand, reputation signals, profile management, and broader marketing efforts and should not be attributed solely to one optimization.
